How to adjust the motor and V-belt of the cone crusher?

1. Motor alignment

Adjust and ensure that the drive motor pulley of the cone crusher is aligned with the frame pulley and parallel to the shaft. When determining the center distance between the motor shaft and the transmission shaft, consideration should be given to the elongation of the V-belt during operation and the reserved space required for installation or removal of the V-belt. This reserved space should also include adjusting the elongated or deformed V-belt to maintain appropriate tension on the V-belt, which can extend the service life of the belt while ensuring its use.

 

2. Installation and tensioning of V-belts

Check the condition of the pulley - Before installing a new V-belt, the surface condition of the pulley should be checked. If there is grease or rust in the groove, it will reduce the transmission efficiency and wear the V-belt, which will cause the belt to fail prematurely.

Worn pulleys can reduce the lifespan of the V-belt by up to 50%. If the groove at the root of the belt is worn, it can cause slippage and belt burning; If there is severe wear on the side wall of the wheel groove to the point of concave, the diamond edge of the concave part will wear down the bottom edge of the belt, leading to premature failure.

Belt pulley groove alignment - Use the method of placing a straight edge ruler on the belt pulley or winding a rope around two belt pulleys so that their tangent points are in contact to check the alignment of the belt pulley groove. Usually, unevenness exceeding 0.5 (with a displacement of 1/8 inch per foot) will reduce the lifespan of the pulley, as misaligned grooves can cause uneven wear on one side of the pulley; The belt flips inside the groove, causing the load to be applied on one side of the belt, resulting in tension and breakage on one side of the belt inside.

Regarding installation and gap adjustment:

After calculating the center distance between the motor and the crusher pulley according to the standard length, shorten the center distance by a certain distance (i.e. installation gap) to ensure that the belt is not lost during installation. Then adjust the distance to ensure that the belt can be tensioned and maintained at an appropriate tension throughout its effective life. The specific data for adjusting the distance and installation gap are shown in the following table:
